GENERAL INFORMATION
Suppliers quality, either suppliers of raw material, services or packaging materials, is a fundamental requirement of GMP. Verifying that all suppliers are able to meet the requirements of quality, delivery time and reliability is a critic process, because it ensures the correct application of the quality system and safeguards company’s reputation.
Workshop “Preparing and managing an audit” was held on 9th april. Purpose of the day was examining difficulties which arise during inspections to different cathegories of suppliers; as well as verifications on the quality system, what are the critical aspects to verify depending on the type of supplier we are inspecting, and what you have to investigate in more detail. The day was an opportunity of training, particularly for less experienced professionals and for those who wanted to extend their skills as auditors to other areas. The workshop offered all the participants the chance to share and discuss their experience both with experts and suppliers. During the day, different types of suppliers were examined, chosen according to needs that emerged during GIM and Quality and Suppliers Group meetings. Inspections to the following suppliers were discussed:
• Starting material – API – excipients
• Carriers
• Dealers
• Testing laboratories
• Primary and secondary packaging materials
• IT and Softwarehouses
• Differences between ISO and GMP
• Materials for sterile environments
• Consultant and pharmacovigilance companies
